Jason Richardson was the blood, sweat and tears of this franchise since he was drafted. He is the heart and soul of a passionate team. He is everything the fans are and his energy throughout his career fueled the passion in the stands. Even if Brandan Wright had become a great PF, he was not worth trading for at the time this trade was made.
Charlotte was willing to take on Richardson's contract, and while our rationale was to get younger, save money and clear a spot for rising star Monta Ellis, our decision was flawed.
1. Richardson is still a better player than Wright
2. Ellis was never going to be a smart fit as the starting 2 guard.
3. Ellis would have thrived in a 6th man role, being allowed to be an offensive force off the bench (i.e. Manu Ginobli, Ben Gordon, Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, etc...)
4. We never gave our We Believe team a chance to play together a full season.
Therefore, by the power of this blog, I declare the Richardson for Wright draft day trade ERADICATED
